A Spirit of Service
At Regina Dominican, one of our personal values is Caritas, or love and compassion, which reminds us that service is based on love of neighbor and we all have a commitment to care for others.
So, we work hard to instill a spirit of service in all our students, regardless of their faith, so they can lead by being kind, helping our community, and making a difference in the world.
Since study and service are so deeply connected at Regina, student service hour requirements are structured within Theology courses, which all carry a service hour requirement of 7.5 hours per course/semester. With the guidance of Theology teachers and Service Ministry Assistants, students are encouraged to explore service opportunities for experiences that resonate with them personally and to connect these experiences with what they are learning in the classroom.
We encourage and provide multiple opportunities each year for students to work on service projects. For example:
- A service project is the cornerstone of our grade specific retreats, which are a highlight for students each year.
- We often team up with other schools, like Notre Dame College Prep, for a day of service, to broaden our community impact and have some fun.
- In collaboration with the Director of Mission Integration and the Theology Department, Campus Ministry also offers an annual immersion service trip over Spring Break to various service sites.
Parents tell us that a key reason they choose Regina Dominican for the daughters is the emphasis on service to others.
If you have any questions on our Spirit of Service and how your daughter can participate, please contact our Enrollment Team at 847-256-7660.
