Challenging High-Achieving Young Women to Reach their Full Potential

This past year, we launched our new Allworth Scholars Program, created in honor of Assistant Principal Verna Allworth ’77. The program is designed for the high-achieving student who is looking for academic challenge by providing access to accelerated courses and experiential learning opportunities, along with membership in a community of intellectually curious students.

Allworth Scholars ProgramAllworth Scholars share experiences that will help them explore and discover their academic passions, connect with distinguished alumnae who are leaders in their fields, and deepen their understanding of themselves and the world of possibilities around them. This selective group of young women will engage in an accelerated curriculum, enhanced by opportunities for mentoring, early college exploration, service learning, and customized wellness activities to create a healthy yet challenging high school experience.

These scholars also have direct access to AP coursework and the Regina Dominican Leadership Institute Program as freshmen.

During the fall of 2022, we welcomed the first cohort of Allworth Scholars. Scholars were able to participate in experiential learning opportunities such as a trip to the Grainger Center for Simulation and Innovation at Evanston Hospital. There, they were able to participate in different functions of the simulation lab that is used to train healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, and first responders.

Scholars were also able to participate in service activities at Feed My Starving Children and learn about local history during a visit to the Woman’s Club of Evanston.
