Regina Dominican is proud to announce that junior Mary Grace Schafer has been recognized by Global Online Academy (GOA) with the Pathway Certificate in Justice, Ethics, and Human Rights Studies. This honor reflects her engagement, academic excellence, and commitment to exploring complex ethical and societal issues on a global scale.
Mary Grace earned this distinction by successfully completing three rigorous GOA courses since the spring of her sophomore year:
-
Prisons and Criminal Justice Systems
-
Discourse Across Differences
-
Introduction to Legal Thinking
Through this interdisciplinary coursework, she has demonstrated both depth of interest and mastery of key competencies related to justice, ethics, and human rights. The Pathway Certificate distinguishes her as a student who has pursued learning beyond the traditional classroom and connected her academic experiences to real-world issues.
GOA Pathway Certifications are designed to prepare students to declare a college major or explore careers they may wish to pursue. Earning this certification enables students to stand out in the college admissions process and provides meaningful opportunities to reflect on and share their unique academic journey.
When a student earns a Pathway Certification, GOA issues a digital certificate listing the courses completed, the competencies mastered, and detailed context about the specific pathway. While grades from GOA courses continue to be recorded on the student’s Regina Dominican transcript, the certification adds an additional layer of achievement and distinction.
Students pursuing a Pathway Certification must complete at least three courses within one of GOA’s eight interdisciplinary pathways:
-
Art, Media & Design
-
Business, Economics & Finance
-
Computer Science & Engineering
-
Global Studies
-
Health Sciences
-
Justice, Ethics & Human Rights
-
Mathematics & Quantitative Reasoning
-
Psychology & Neuroscience
