Wilmette, IL – On Saturday, February 24th, 50 members of the Regina Dominican Mathletes Team competed in the Regional Illinois Council of the Teachers of Mathematics Regional Contest at Niles North High School. Freshman, Jana Tayara earned an individual medal in the Algebra 1 competition and qualified for the State Final competition. The Algebra 1 and Geometry teams also qualified for state. The Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics(ICTM) State Finals will take place on April 6, 2024, at Illinois State University.
This is the first time since 2018 that the Mathletes are heading to state. Mary Stenson, Curriculum Lead and Mathematics teacher at Regina Dominican High School stated “Mathematics is a true superpower, and our Mathletes are superheroes!”
