Regina Dominican takes home the Sectional Championship!

The Regina Dominican Panthers won 40-37 over Crane Medical Prep in the IHSA Sectional Championship. This is the fifth sectional championship in the programs history.  Regina Dominican took home the sectional championship in '83, '84, '85 and '03.

“It is an exciting time to be a Regina Dominican basketball fan as it is our first elite 8 appearance since 2003.  We are very proud of our team and coaches” said Regina Dominican Athletic Director Brian Mancuso.  “They, like all of our sports teams, are great representatives of the school.  We are hopeful for a large and loud crowd to cheer on the team as we continue the journey."

The Varsity team has two current seniors, paving the way for the fairly young team to continue earning back-to-back-to-back regional titles and beyond. Sophomores, Natalia Cerrado, Jillian DeFranza, and Olivia Fraterrigo helped gain the win over Crane Medical Prep last week. Cerrado finished the game with 14 points, while fellow sophomores Jillian DeFranza had 13 and Olivia Fraterrigo had 10.

The Panthers will face the Phillips High School Wildcats tonight at 7 PM @ Morton College.
