Regina Dominican High School is proud to announce the varsity soccer team as the recipient of the Spring 2026 McDonell Award, presented each season to the athletic team with the highest collective Grade Point Average (GPA).

The Panthers earned an impressive 3.8 team GPA on a 4.0 scale, securing the honor in what Athletic Director Brian Mancuso described as a highly competitive spring season academically among Regina’s athletic programs. This marks the soccer program’s latest McDonell Award recognition and continues the team’s strong tradition of excellence both on the field and in the classroom.

“Congratulations to the soccer Panthers on winning the McDonell Award,” said Athletic Director Brian Mancuso. “It was very competitive among all of our spring sports teams in regard to their grade point averages. We are proud of the commitment these student-athletes continue to show toward academic success.”

In recognition of the achievement, the team’s name will be added to the permanent McDonell Award display located outside the Regina Dominican gymnasium.

The McDonell Award was established in honor of former Regina Dominican administrator Patricia “Pat” McDonell, who retired in June 2019. Pat believed deeply that academic and athletic excellence should go hand in hand. A mentor, leader, and friend to many throughout the Regina Dominican community, her legacy continues through this award, which is presented each fall, winter, and spring sports season.
