Basketball Head Coach Bob Newton Earns 300th Career Win as Panthers Defeat U-High 62–35

Wilmette, IL- Regina Dominican High School head basketball coach Bob Newton reached a major career milestone on Thursday, January 15, 2026,  earning his 300th career coaching victory as the Panthers defeated the University of Chicago Laboratory School, 62–35.

Coach Newton has served two tenures at Regina Dominican (1994–1999 and 2016–present) and has also led successful programs as head coach at Northside College Prep. Since returning to Regina Dominican, he has continued to build a championship-caliber program rooted in discipline, teamwork, and excellence.

Under Coach Newton’s leadership, the Panthers advanced downstate in 2024 after capturing regional, sectional, and super-sectional championships. Regina Dominican has also secured IHSA Regional titles in 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, underscoring the sustained success of the program.

Coach Newton’s achievements have been widely recognized. He has been named Independent Schools League (ISL) Coach of the Year three times (2023, 2024, and 2025), earned Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Coach of the Year honors in 2024, and is a proud member of the IBCA Hall of Fame (Class of 2009).
