Developing Future Female Leaders

The world needs more female leaders.

As experts in educating young women, we are passionate about developing them. And, our all-girls’ environment offers your daughters a competitive advantage. According to research from the International Coalition of Girls Schools (ICGS), 93% of girls’ school grads say they were offered greater leadership opportunities than peers at coed schools, and 80% have held leadership positions since graduating from high school. Regina Girls lead!

A unique program, developed at Regina Dominican, the Leadership Institute is a resource center and hub with specific programming for girls to discover their voices, find their passions, and build the leadership skills needed for success.

What Does That Look Like?

Leadership Institute programs are designed for all our students to acquire, practice, apply and master the leadership skills critical for the next generation of female leaders, including:

• Opportunities to apply critical leadership skills in diverse settings– in the classroom; at community service project sites; on the court, course, or  athletic field around the campus with student government; and beyond 
• Discussions on leadership, especially female leadership styles and history
• Meetings with mentors for one-on-one discussions
• Participation in experiential leadership opportunities such as:
• North Shore Health System’s Grainger Center for Simulation and Innovation
• Woman’s Club of Evanston historical program
• Phase I of the “Building Her Tomorrow” capital improvement construction project with Regina Alumna Carol Ross Barney, an internationally renowned architect and recent 2023 AIA Gold Award winner.
• CBS News Chicago "Behind the Scenes" guided tour and newscast
• Global Headquarters of Rotary International executive level briefing, mock election, and tour
  

How Does It Work?

The Institute is open to all Regina Dominican students. Every student engages in skills-based Advisory activities, and has the opportunity to attend alumnae speaker events, participate in leadership development workshops, and earn annual leadership badges. Annual badges are earned through involvement in multiple workshops, two self-assessments, and a culminating project. Leadership program involvement is an important part of the Regina student profile and a competitive advantage for students vying for offers from the colleges and universities of their choice.
